Future Ruin

Rong Cao, Rosa Liang and Zoey Zhou · Instructor: Jennifer Chen

Future Ruin does not propose a redesign of architectural form, but a reconsideration of architecture through time, environment, and modes of representation.

The project reframes a canonical building as a “future ruin,” using repeated translations between plan, section, and massing to test the spatial resilience of architecture under conditions of structural decay, environmental intrusion, and shifting patterns of use.

Rather than presenting a singular, resolved object, the drawings and models operate as parallel readings of architectural logic across different temporal states, allowing new spatial relationships to emerge between construction and dissolution.
